EEN Philippines: 5 questions to Florian Gottein

We warmly welcome the Philippines to the Enterprise Europe Network. We look forward to working together with our new partner European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) and unlocking new opportunities across Europe and the world.

To get to know our new partner better, we asked Florian Gottein, Executive Director ECCP, five questions. Find out more in the interview.

Could you briefly introduce the ECCP and the main services you provide to businesses?

ECCP is the Philippines’ largest foreign business network, representing 900+ member-companies from various sectors. With six offices in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, we connect the entire Philippines to Europe through trade, investment, and partnership opportunities. ECCP offers advocacy, business matching, event & forums, and training, empowering businesses to expand, innovate, and thrive in a competitive global market.

What motivated the ECCP to become part of the Enterprise Europe Network?

One of the core focus areas of ECCP is the strengthening of  EU–Philippines business linkages and the support of the internationalization of European SMEs into the Philippine market. Our objective is to provide a direct and reliable platform for facilitating trade, investment, technology transfer, and innovation partnerships between European and Philippine enterprises.

In which sectors do you see the greatest potential for European SMEs in doing business with the Philippines?

European SMEs have strong opportunities in the Philippines where demand is growing and European technology offers clear differentiation. We see the highest potential in renewable energy and energy efficiency, water and wastewater solutions, waste management and the circular economy, and digitalization for industry and infrastructure. Other attractive areas include agrifood processing and cold chain, manufacturing enablers, and selected healthcare and transport technology niches.

What are you most excited about as you begin working with the Enterprise Europe Network? / What do you hope to gain from working in the network?

What excites us most about beginning to work with the Enterprise Europe Network is the opportunity to work with the world's largest support network for SMEs, which serves over 800 of them daily. The EEN is a powerful platform. It will allow our Chamber to significantly broaden our impact and directly facilitate new, strategic partnerships between EU and Philippine businesses that simply wouldn't be possible without this connected, international platform.

Thank you very much for taking the time for this interview. We look forward to continuing our collaboration.
